Here is a picture of the mound where Rose’s forces are attacking. it seems that the attack is from both left and right side.
The mound is 500 yards east of the Orcha gate and half a cos (a mile from the lake.

The focus of the Briish attack was on a defencive position called ‘The Mamelon’. It is at the bottom right on this image of the wall. The Postern Gate that was blown in is further down the southern wall and is the most direct route to the Rani Mahal in the town, not the Panchmahal in the fort. This gate had suffered much damage when Jhansi was attacked by Larai Bai of the neighbouring kingdom of Orchha.
